When is the new MobilePass available?

MobilePass is now available on the Q3 price list

Does this take the place of SofToken?

Yes. The old SofToken II offered a software token for laptops and PCs. The Windows Desktop flavor of MobilePass offers similar, but more extensive, capabilities as SofToken II. SofToken II will still be available for existing SofToken II customers who want to purchase more licenses. New customers should purchase the new MobilePass. SofToken II customers can upgrade to the new MobilePass for free by simply ordering the new MobilePass starter pack and installing it

How do I order MobilePass?

How is MobilePass delivered to customers and end users?

An activation certificate will be sent to new MobilePass customers The software delivery is completely web based. The activation certificate will have a
link for customers to visit to download and install the server software.

The software component for end users can similarly be downloaded by administrators
and made available (by email or file share) on the customers own internal system.

Administrators can configure the solution to fit their organizational needs, then

generate platform-specific delivery packages to get the software to end users and their mobile devices.

What happens to the old MobilePass?

The old version of MobilePass delivered one-time passcodes via SMS messaging. That version is still available with SofToken II if your customer wants that feature SMS messaging is not available in this first release of MobilePass but will be available in future releases. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements to the MobilePass line.

Does MobilePass protect the Blackberry or mobile device itself?

No. MobilePass only generates one-time passcodes on the mobile device for logging in to your network from your laptop or PC. It doesnt offer authentication or access for the phone itself.

Spending Should Be Robust in 2007
It appears that spending on authentication solutions should see a robust year in 2007, as many organizations that were once "on the fence" now appear to be getting ready to sign on the dotted line. Regulatory pressures (e.g. FFIEC-banks), more sophisticated hacker attacks, necessity of guarding intellectual property, and customer privacy issues are driving many IT departments

to beef up authentication levels within their respective organizations.

Customers and consultants with whom we have spoken echo a recurring theme, passwords are not sufficient anymore, as many organizations are looking for more safety nets to guard their network/intellectual property. As one CTO told us, it's a small price to pay considering the potential risk to my organization if something goes wrong.
