Some challenges from pilot have been identified to further improve implementation of OPS English Challenges Lab recommendations 1 Provide training courses to enhance
pedagogical skills for integrated listening and speaking skills as well as further understanding of the current School Based Assessment

When learning a language, it is listening and speaking that starts off your foundation. Reading and writing is incidental. The stronger the foundation, the easier it is to build on reading and writing, not the other way round.

Pendekatan Pengajaran
1. 3Ps Approach (Presentation, Practice, Production): a) Presentation Stage: Guru membentangkan item bahasa secara berfokus. b) Practice Stage: Pelajar berlatih menggunakan item bahasa tersebut melalui latihan yg terkawal. c) Production Stage: Pelajar diberi peluang utk menggunakan bahasa secara terkawal dan bermakna (bersama/ tanpa guru).

Task Based Approach (TBA): a) Pre-task Stage: Guru memperkenalkan topic dan huraian tugasan. b) Task Stage: Pelajar bekerja secara kolaboratif di dlm kumpulan/ berpasangan. c) Planning Stage: Pelajar akan bekerjasama utk menyiapkan tugasan dan menyediakannya utk persembahan, laporan dll. 3. Teacher Talk Approach: a) Lebih berfokuskan kpd peranan guru di dlm kelas: i. Memberikan contoh lebih dari bercakap/ memberikan arahan. ii. Bertanya lebih dari memberitahu.

3Ps Approach
Involves 3 stages: 1. Presentation stage: teacher presents in context the target language item(s) 2. Practice stage: learners practice the language item(s) via controlled practice tasks 3. Production stage: learners are given the opportunity to use language in controlled and meaningful situation (with/without the teacher)

TBA Approach
Begins with the objective and end product in mind.

1. Pre-task stage: teacher introduces the topic and clarifies the task 2. Task stage: learners work collaboratively in pairs and small groups 3. Planning stage: learners in their respective groups work and prepare their presentations, reports etc.

Teacher Talk Approach


Focuses on the role of the teacher in the classroom
1. To model rather than to talk/instruct 2. To question rather than to tell

Peranan Pengetua/Pengurusan Sekolah

PIHAK SEKOLAH (PANITIA BAHASA INGGERIS)


Pengetua perlu mengeluarkan surat penurunan kuasa bagi mengecap dan menandatangani penerimaan pembekalan buku pinjaman Projek Khas OPS-English oleh pengedar/penerbit kepada guru bertugas atau guru lain yang boleh dipertanggungjawabkan, selain daripada Pengetua/Penolong Kanan/Guru SPBT. Ini membolehkan pengedar/penerbit menguruskan pembekalan buku terutamanya semasa cuti sekolah.

Memastikan semua murid mendapatkan buku ini sebelum hari pertama sesi baru persekolahan. Membuat semakan awal (November dan Disember) stok buku ini sebelum sesi baru persekolahan dibuka. Memaklumkan kepada PPD dan JPN sekiranya berlaku kekurangan buku teks ini dengan kadar segara dengan menyatakan judul, jumlah naskhah dan punca kekurangan berlaku.

Mengingatkan murid supaya buku teks projek khas ini dipulangkan kepada pihak sekolah sekiranya murid berpindah ke sekolah lain. Ini adalah kerana Projek Khas OPS-English hanya dilaksanakan di sekolah-sekolah yang terpilih sahaja. Memaklum kepada ibu bapa atau penjaga bahawa buku teks Projek Khas OPS-English tidak dijual di pasaran terbuka.

Kriteria Pemilihan Sek. OPS-English: 1) Kenal pasti daerah (PPD) 2) Kenal pasti calon lead trainer (kriteria tertentu) 3) Pilih sekolah lead trainer sebagai sekolah satelit (Band 3 6) 4) Pilih 3-5 sekolah berhampiran sekolah satelit 5) Sekolah: 5-8 kelas Tingkatan Satu 6) Lokasi sekolah strategik kerjasama antara sekolah satelit dalam satu kluster (PLC)
