* Health is a common concern in most of communities. * It is often taken for granted its importance is not understood until it is lost. * During the last few decades there has been a renewed interest in health, that health is a fundamental right and a worldwide social goal and is essential to basic human needs and improved quality if life.

Definition
WHO definition of health is has been considered for clear understanding of health. WHO definition HEALTH is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of a disease or infirmity

Dimensions of health
Health is multidimensional although these dimensions are interrelated, each has its own nature. Types of dimensions Physical dimension Mental dimension Social dimension Spiritual dimension Emotional dimension

Dimensions of health
PHYSICAL DIMENSION: It implies the concept of perfect functioning of the body. MENTAL DIMENSION: a state of balance between individual and surrounding world , coexistance between realities of self , other people and that of environment.

SOCIAL DIMENSION: Quantity and quality of an individuals interpersonal ties and the extent of involvement with the community. SPIRITUAL DIMENSION: it includes integrity, principles , ethics purpose in life and commitment to some higher being.

EMOTIONAL DIMENSION: Emotional health relates to feeling. This dimension reflects emotional aspects of humanness .

Determinents of health
Health is influenced by multiple factors that lie both within an individual or externally they are: Biological determinants Behaviorial or social determinants Environment Socioeconomic conditions Health services Aging of population Gender Other factors

Biological determinents state of health depends on genetic constituents of man his relationship with his environment that transform genetic personality to phenotype reality.

Behavioral determinants: evidence indicates that there is association between health and life style of individual. Environment: it have a direct affect on the physical , mental and social wellbeing of those living in it.

Socioeconomic status: it influence health such as Economic status Education Occupation Political system

Aging of population: a major concern of rapidly aging population is increased pravelence of chronic diseases and disabilities. Gender: Womens health is gaining importance in areas such as nutrition , reproductive health , aging , life style an related conditions.
