Voice over Powerline

By: Theo Manuel Balonzo Angelo Britanico Joseph Buenafe Jerome Canet Jose Eliseo Mateo

Preview of the Problem

Creating new connection is time consuming and expensive
Powerline Communication (PLC) is a system for carrying data for electric power transmission Power lines can be used as the transmission medium in voice communication

Significance of the Study

Landline is a form of transmission in telephone communication
Maximize the functions of a transmission line by using it for voice communication Lessen the cost and eliminate the messy wirings for new communication

Objectives of the Study

Construct a modem that allows voice to pass through in a power line
Maximize the use of power lines by allowing communication through them Lessen visible wirings inside a building

Scope and Delimitation

Limited to voice communication thru power line
Use existing power lines inside a building

Only modems will be developed by the researchers for proper voice communication thru power lines
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) will be used for multi frequency transmission

Scope and Delimitation

The modem will use the frequency range from 10kHz to 490kHz
Optimal transmission of voice signal will only be achieved when there are no power interruption The researchers will be liable for the safety of the user of the technology The project will be limited to one on one telephone conversation only
