    Involution begins immediately after delivery Subinvolution occurs if involution is prolonged or stopped as a result of infection, hemorrhage, or retained placental fragments.

    Immediately after delivery fundus halfway between umbilicus and symphysis pubis 1 hour later rises to the level of umbilicus and stays there for the next 24 hrs

    1st potspartal day 1 fingerbreadth below umbilicus 2nd postpartal day - 2 fingerbreadths below umbilicus and so forth until 10th day 10th postpartal day uterus cannot be palpated abdominally
