The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has accepted the percentile based formula for conducting the JEE in 2013. The IIT-JEE aspirants will be required to appear in JEE mains (screening test) first. Those who will qualify will be given an opportunity to sit in the Advanced JEE.

New Patterns Highlights : Two Exams JEE Mains followed by JEE Advance. Time gap between these two exams will be two to three weeks. JEE Main which is equivalent to AIEEE and will be conducted by CBSE, JAB. JEE Advance which is equivalent to IIT JEE will be conducted by IITs . Only top 1,50,000 students including all categories from JEE Main will be able to appear in JEE Advance.

ELIGIBILITY criteria: Admissions to IITs will be based only on category wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE ADVANCED. The student have to be in top 20 percentile list of board exams.

Admission in NIT, IIIT & other deemed universities who take admission on the basis of AIEEE will be based on JEE Main exam. The 40% weightage will be given to the board scores.

The Medical Council of India (MCI), Apex body which regulates the Medical Education, declared National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for All India Medical and Dental admission from this year 2013. The syllabus will be 50% syllabus of XI standard and 50% of syllabus from XII standard of subjects of Biology, Physics and Chemistry. This test pattern has been planned as objective test only.

NEET is conducted for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses offered by all 271 medical colleges, 138 run by governments and 133 under private management. These colleges offer over 31,000 seats for MBBS courses according to a press release from MCI in the month of August 2012. Recent news items appeared in the print media indicate that 355 medical colleges and 41000 MBBS seats are available with MCI.

New pattern of NEET 2013


The pattern of NEET :NEET-UG will be a single stage test based on objective type questions. The test would comprise of Physics (45 questions), Chemistry (45 questions), Biology (90 questions from Zoology & Botany). Duration of the test would be three hours and total number of questions would be 180. It is a single phase exam with national ranking. NEET will be conducted by CBSE.
