INTRODUCTION
Just In Time
JIT philosophy means getting the right quantity of goods at the right place and the right time. JIT exceeds the concept of inventory reduction Now days it is know as Lean manufacturing.

Lean manufacturing
A systematic approach to identifying and eliminating waste through continuous improvement by flowing the product at the pull of the customer in pursuit of perfection.

MANUFACTRUING WASTE
Waste is defined as anything that does not add value to the final product. wastes are categorized in to seven categories.
Over production Inventory Waiting Excess motion or ergonomic problems Transportation Rework Over processing

MUDA

is the Japanese word for WASTE. 5 1 4 7 3 2 6

An 8th waste is the wasted potential of people To produce sooner, faster or in greater quantities than customer demand.

Seek it out and get rid!

Overproduction

Over Processing
Processing beyond the standard required by the customer.

1 7

Inventory

Raw material, work in progress or finished goods which is not having value added to it.

Rework
Non right first time. Repetition or correction of a process.

3 5 4

Waiting
People or parts that wait for a work cycle to be completed.

Transportation

Motion

Unnecessary movement of people or parts between processes.

Unnecessary movement of people, parts or machines within a process.

LEAN MANUFACTRUING TOOL

Lean manufacturing is based on continuous finding and removal of the wastes which isnt add any value. Therefore all the tools in lean manufacturing aim to identify and remove wastes from the system continuously. Now here below discuss lean manufacturing tool in briefly

Cont
Just In Time
JIT Purchasing
Purchasing is done when the goods are actually needed by the production. No large stocks are maintained.

JIT Production
This requires very good internal coordination and planning. All the tools we are going to discuss in this seminar will help achieving this objective.

JIT Distribution
To achieve a smooth production without any delays in production and to distribute the goods in small batches to the buyers in continuous basis, it is very important to keep a good transportation management system.

Cont
Work Cells
Work place is arranged in to a cell which is in the shape of English letter U. in a work cell there will be 3-12 people depending on the job task performed by this cell.

Cont
Kanban Tooling
Kanban mainly focus on the reduction of overproduction. There are mainly two types of kanbans. They are as below:
Withdrawal kanban Production kanban

Workplace Organization (5 S)
A method for organizing a workplace, and keeping it organized.
