Reduced Chiller Capacity:

Based on the Preliminary CFD model the average temperature increase to the inlet of chillers is 12.4 0F.

The chiller capacity of 408.1 Tons was based on ambient temperature of 107.6 0F. Considering the effect of NW wind the inlet temperature is estimated to be 107 + 12.4 = 120 0F
Using the Performance data at various ambient temperatures provided by Zamil, the reduced capacity at 120 0F ambient temperature is 373.5 Tons Total Capacity of 23 Chillers with NW Winds Impact = 373.5 x 23 = 8590.5 Tons

Original Total Capacity of 23 Chillers with NW Winds Impact = 9386 Tons

Reduction in Chillers Capacity Due to Wind Direction and Speed = 795.5 Tons OR 8.48% Total Plant Existing Loads = 8182 Tons Margin Available in Existing System = 408.5 Tons OR 4.99%

Margin Recovery and Evaluation

1. Doosan Loads Decreased Due to Reduction in Water Requirements from 1100 m3/hr to 1000 m3/hr. The corresponding load based on 1000 m3/hr is 2906 Tons. Credit Due to Revised Water Flow Requirements = 3194 2906 = 288 Tons. Revised Plant Heat Loads Required = 7,894 Tons Margin Including UST (GT Workshops) = 696.5 Tons OR 8.82% 2. Credit From GT Workshops Load Removal: TSPC replaced GT Workshops with Small Offices for which self contained DX Units will be installed without he use of Chilled Water. The existing required load for each UST building is 44.3 Tons. Removal of these buildings will result in a reduction of 44.3 x 6 = 265.8 Tons. The new revised loads without the UST buildings = 7,894-265.8 = 7,628.2 Tons Margin Excluding the GT Workshops = 8,590.5 7,628.2 = 962.3 Tons OR 12.62% Conclusion The existing chilled water plant with 23 chillers in operation and 3 in standby and considering the impact of NW wind are adequate to provide the required chilled water to and Plant buildings.
