Metal are melted in a wok over a charcoal fire Melted metal is poured between two terracotta tiles to cast a pewter sheet. A steel blade is used to scrape and remove the layer of oxide on the sheet. Required shape or pattern would be cut with a pair of shears.

Each item is hand cast by pouring molten pewter into steel moulds quickly and efficiently. After cooling, each individual pewter piece is polished and soldered onto other appendages such as spouts and handles, all done by hand. The pewter factory based in Setapak now has a workforce of more than 250 craftspeople. Today, the company offers over a thousand tableware and gift items, from tankards and tea sets, to photo frames, desk accessories and wine accessories. Royal Selangor now has 40 shops worldwide with retail outlets in London, Toronto, Melbourne, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Mumbai and Singapore.

The pewter sheet would be knocked into the intended shape using a wooden mallet.
Greenstone moulds were used to cast spouts and handles, later to be soldered on. Polishing would be done using a tropical leaf covered with barbs known as "stone leaf", which acted as sandpaper.
