Mission Statement: The mission of the Media Center is to provide quality media, technology, and information services in order to enhance learning and ensure access to ideas and information for all

Objectives of Camp Creeks Media Center


To provide media resources, facilities, services, and support to all areas of the instructional program. To provide a variety of services for students which develop library media skills and encourage the pursuit of life-long learning. To enable students to discover a love of reading and the ability to make appropriate book selections.

Media Center Entrance


Located in the center on the 1st floor, between the office and the cafeteria

Media Center Exit


Exit is the primary entrance of the library Located in the back of the Media Center between the circulation desk and student lounge area A direct left out of the exit will led to the cafeteria A direct right out of the exit will led to the main hall of classrooms.

Located in the central back side of the media center and to the left side of the exit door Full view of entire library

Media Center Guidelines


Media Center is open from 7:30a.m.4:30p.m for staff and 8:20a.m.3:15p.m. for students Media Center is open on a flexible schedule or teacher sign-up basis

Camp Creeks Circulation Guidelines


Kindergarten and 1st grade students may choose 1 book per week 2nd and 3rd grade students may choose 2 books per week 4th and 5th grade students may choose 2 books for 3 weeks and 1 magazine for 3 days Students may not check out books if they have any lost or damaged books

Organization
Media Leadership Team represented by 1 media specialist per cluster for 3 years meeting 6 times a year Media Leadership Team propose options for choosing instructional materials and financial plans, operation methods, and attainable objectives Camp Creek Media Committee is comprised of the Media Specialist, 1 Assistant Principal, an 5 parents Camp Creek has 1 Media Specialist, 1 Media clerk and parent volunteers

Funding
Funding in Gwinnett County is budgeted $1,500 per media center, in addition to a principal allocated amount based on school budget, SACS, PTA donations and book fair profits Camp Creek Budget 2009-2010 Total Income = $15, 652.93 Carryover = $1891.29 SACS funds = $3615.00 Book Fair, Fall = $4245.71 Book Fair, Spring = $4700.93 PTA for AR quizzes = $1200.00

Gwinnett County Media Center Policies


The media programs of Gwinnett County Public Schools support all areas of instruction, providing media resources, facilities, and services to the instructional staff and students. Through this unified approach to media service and flexible scheduling, resources should be available in a variety of formats and accessible to all students during the school day. In support of the goals defined by the Media and Information Services Department, GCPS media centers should protect patron privacy.

Instructional Media and Equipment


Media specialists, clerks, district curriculum specialists, administrators and instructional staff collaborate to expand curriculum to meet the needs of the 21st century learner SACS School Media Teams propose collaboration, instruction, and resource plans every 3 years Media Leadership Team re-visits student fine policy each year Current Lost or Damaged Book policy- $15 for a hardback book and $5 for a paperback book

Instructional Media and Equipment


Collections are to meet the standards of the Gwinnett County Media Program Standards, Georgia Department of Education Standards, and Southern Association of College and Schools Collections are inventoried annually to determine needs of individual collected works Collections are reviewed through a up to date computer analysis program
