Sat, Oct. 12 Mr. Reid rejects the Collins proposal, mainly for not reducing the size of the sequester cuts. Extend debt ceiling through end of 2014. The measure fails to reach the 60-vote threshold it needed.

Tue, Oct. 15 Mr. Boehner announces a proposal that, like the evolving Senate plan, require budget negotiations end by mid-December. It also alters parts of the presidents health care law It fails to attract enough support to pass. House Republic leaders rush out a new proposal
