Initiatives in Hospitality Industry


Invitation to Welfare and NGO to display 100% ecofriendly and biodegradable jute products like slippers, bags, handicrafts in dining area or in lobby and also encouraging staff and team members to buy these products

They should encourage women to make handicrafts and embroidered products. The trust receives a share of linen and uniforms from the hotel. In addition allow them to set up display counters of their items in the hotel lobby three times a week. The items are available for guests to purchase and the proceeds of the sale go to the organization

Green Week in Hospitality


Employees and few guests along with their children to plant a sapling each to mark the commencement of the week

Employees and contract workers to be made aware of their contribution to the environment through a presentation and a poster making competition

Providing training and education of stakeholders which will include Employees, Suppliers, Vendors, Customers and Society on topics like state-of-the-art waste management practices, Conserving all natural resources and Complying with applicable legislative, regulatory & other requirements

Conduct a workshop for the kids on how they can contribute in saving the environment. The Kids will then be handed recycled paper bags to draw an image on them with the theme- Save the environment

Chef to contribute their bit by preparing a delicious menu made entirely from the green vegetables picked from the in-house herb garden

Event to be concluded with a Black out for an hour, where all departments switched off their lights for one hour.

Taj Hotels community development action group ( CDAG) at "The Gateway Hotel, Coonoor and Taj Savoy Ooty had a group of unusual guests. 79 tribal and orphan children of Sarguru Ashram, Coonoor, visited the Coonoor hotel and 44 students of deaf and dumb school, Ooty, visited Taj Savoy, Ooty
