Q4: Who would be the audience for your media product?

Age
The audience of our thriller would primarily be people between the ages of 15 20 years old. This is due to the characters Billy and Danielle being 16 and 17 years old, therefore, our audience can find our production appealing because they can identify with the characters age, thus there is the possibility of sharing similar interests with the characters themselves, such as music taste and hobbies including photography. Our productions audience may also be of this age demographic due to the modern contemporary clothing our characters wear, such as Billys Adidas trainers and Danielles silver rings which can be reflective of the way many 15 20 year olds dress themselves. Aside from this, our audience may primarily be people of the 15 20 demographic due to our production being an alternative thriller with teenage leading characters, similar to the 2010 release Submarine which also features teenage characters and an alternative storyline, with the films primary audience being 15 24 year olds. Alternatively, my cut of our production may attract an audience from the 35+ demographic due to the use of black and white, attempting a film-noir approach which reflects films of the 1940s such as The Third Man. This demographic may enjoy my thriller as it could remind them of previous film-noir films, allowing them to review the development of film-noir productions and how it has been incorporated into a modern day setting.

Gender
Our thriller productions audience would primarily be made up of more female viewers than male viewers. This is down to our story line in which Danielle is the dominant character who essentially shapes the story line of a murder taking place. Females may find our thriller more appealing than males as we challenged the generic convention of male dominance, notable in the 1984 release Once Upon A Time In America by making our male character the vulnerable victim, thus attracting females by representing them as strong, independent and successful in their revenge seeking, much like the character of The Bride from Kill Bill who is determined to seek revenge on Vernita Green for stealing her husband. Males on the other hand may not find our production as appealing due to the male character Billy being presented as weak and victimized, banishing him of status and power.

Ethnicity and Nationality

Our thriller productions audience would primarily be made up of White-British people. This is due to both of our characters being white and from Britain themselves, therefore attracting an audience of the same ethnicity and nationality who can relate to the characters because of this. Our thriller presents white-British males to be reflective of real individuals that fit into this group as many youths of Britain in todays age dress in the same manner as Billy, and perhaps relate to his hobbies also. The character of Danielle may attract a white-British audience due to her character reinforcing the common stereotype of British youth of today who dress in the same manner as her; we decided to glamorize the appearance of a working class female from Britain as it allows our production to represent many individuals of this group in todays day and age, allowing a white-British audience to be targeted. Alternatively, the audience of our thriller may be made up primarily of white-British people as it holds similarities to that of the 2006 release This Is England due to its location of Britain and majority of cast being white, and because of the films audience demographic being made up of white-British people between the ages of 25 35. Another example of a production which casts whiteBritish youth characters and reflects this in its audience demographic includes the E4 drama Skins which like our thriller film, presents white-British teenagers to be vulnerable, troubled and violent.
