Trishla Ratiya's document discusses action research. Action research is defined as a systematic process of investigating a system to implement changes that improve practice. It involves collecting data about the system, implementing changes based on the findings, and then evaluating the results in an ongoing cycle. The purpose of action research is to use evidence from the system to implement changes that improve it. Kurt Lewin conceptualized a three step model for action research - unfreezing, changing, and refreezing - which involves becoming aware of the need for change, testing new behaviors, and evaluating the new behaviors. The document then outlines the three stages of an action research process - input, transformation, and output - which involve problem identification, taking action

A systematic and organized form of continuous attention applied to a field of knowledge, undertaken to establish facts, relations, principles and theories. In simple terms it is a systematic investigative process conducted again to increase or revise current knowledge by discovering new facts. Action research a process and an approach Action research is a process, an ongoing series of events and actions.
Definition:
Action research is a process of systematically collecting research data about an ongoing system relative to some objective, goal, or need of that system feeding these data back into the system taking actions by altering selected variables within the system based on both data and hypothesis.
The purpose of action research Action research is a method used for improving practice. It involves action, evaluation, and critical reflection based on the evidence gathered changes in practice then implemented. Action research was conceptualized by kurt lewin According to him action research model consists of three steps :- UNFREEZING: Faced with dilemma or disconfirmation they becomes aware for the need of change. CHANGING: The situation is diagnosed and new models of behaviour are explored and tested. REFREEZING: Application of new behaviour is evaluated. ACTION RESEARCH MODEL 1. INPUT (Problem identification): Action research is depicted as a cyclical process of change. The cycle begins with a series of planning actions initiated by the client and the change agent working together. The principal elements of this stage include a preliminary diagnosis, data gathering, feedback of results, and joint action planning. In the language of systems theory, this is the input phase, in which the client system becomes aware of problems as yet unidentified, realizes it may need outside help to effect changes, and shares with the consultant the process of problem diagnosis. 2 TRANSFORMATION : The second stage of action research is the action, or transformation, phase. This stage includes actions relating to learning processes (perhaps in the form of role analysis) and to planning and executing behavioral changes in the client organization feedback at this stage would move via feedback loop A and would have the effect of altering the previous planning to bring the client system into better alignment.
3. OUTPUT (Data gathering and diagnosis): The third stage of action research is the output, or results, phase. This stage includes actual changes in behavior (if any) resulting from corrective action steps taken following the second stage. Data are again gathered from the client system so that progress can be determined and necessary adjustments in learning activities can be made. Minor adjustments of this nature can be made in learning activities via Feedback Loop B . Because action research is a cyclical process, data must also be gathered after the action has been taken to measure and determine the effects of the action and feed the results back to the organization. This in turn may lead to re- diagnosis and new action. Action research sets in motion a long- range, cyclical, self-correcting mechanism for maintaining and enhancing the effectiveness of the client's system by leaving the system with practical and useful tools for self- analysis and self-renewal. Action research is thus problem centered, client centered, and action oriented.
