Low Tire Pressure Warning System
It is a warning system for low tire pressure that works
when the car is in motion.

It utilizes a tire-mounted pressure sensor.

This pressure sensor signals a loss in tire pressure and alert
the driver to stop safely before the condition worsen.

Concepts that can be utilized
In a hypothetical system, tire pressure sensor continually
measures the tire pressure and the signals from the sensor
mounted on the rolling tire is coupled by a media to the signal
processor.

As the pressure drops below critical limit, a warning is sent
to the display panel that the tire has low pressure.

The difficult part of this system in the link between sensors
and processors. It requires major modification to wheel-axle
assembly and is often not accepted.

The difficult part of this system is the link from the tire
pressure sensor mounted on rotating tire to the processor

Link can be provided by using small radio transmitter
mounted on tire.

Transmitter sends signal to receiver in the car body.

The distance from the transmitter to receiver is a few feet
,low power required.

Another concept is to link the sensor and signal processor
by the use of radio transmitter and receiver assembly.

Using modern solid state electronic technology , very low
power consumption is achieved.

Problem with this method is electrical power for
transmitter, so a tiny battery is made in use which provide
enough power for its operation

This scheme uses a sensor switch which is usually held open
by normal tire pressure on a manually connected diaphragm.
Low pressure allows spring-loaded switch to close thereby
turning on the micro transmitter .

The signal processor then activates a warning lamp for the
driver and remains on until the driver manually resets it
through instrument panel.

Transmitter will remain on until the whole battery drains
out, but due to the use of signal processor, the low-pressure
status can be stored in processor memory and warning can be
given if the transmitter quits operating

It helps driver to know the tire pressure status when the
vehicle parked is turned on

Another scheme for monitoring tire pressure is to have a
transmitter/receiver mounted on the car.

In this scheme the tire pressure sensor is a form of
passive transponder that is interrogated by the
transmitter/receiver system
