Cyber laws refer to any laws relating to
protecting the internet and other online
technologies that are in Malaysia

Digital Signature Act 1997
Telemedicine Act 1997
Communication and Multimedia Act 1998
Computer Crimes Act 1997

Secures electronic communications (especially
on the internet).
Digital Signature means an identity
identification standard using encryption
techniques to protect against e-mail.
forgery.Theencrypted codeconsists of the users
name and a hash(#) of all parts of the message.
By attaching the digital signature,nobody can
eavesdrop,intercept or tmper with transimitted
data.By doing so, a more secured electronic
communication could be done.

Protection against the misuses of computers and
computer criminal activities are ensured by Crimes
Act 1997.Such as unauthorized use of
programs,illegal transmission of data messages
over computers and hacking and cracking of
computer systems and networks are banned by
this law,therefore to those who disobey the law
can be charged by court .
By implementing the Computer Crimes Act
1997,computer uses can now protect their rights to
privacy and build trust in the computer system.On
top of that,this act also enable government to track
the illegal activities ,thus reducing the cyber crime
cases

E-government(Electronic Government) describes
the use of technologies to facilitate the operation of
government and the dispersement of government
information and services.E-government includes
the use of electronic in government as large-scale
as the use of telephones and fax machines,as well
as surveillance system,tracking systems such as
RFID tags ,and even the use of television and
radios to provide government-related information
and services to citizens.For Example in Malaysia
there is the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) the
umbrella of the Malaysian government.

To reduce the numbers of criminals on the
internet.
In order to maintain harmony and the co-
existence of people in the cyberspace.
Cyberspace is an intangible dimension and
therefore, it is impossible to regulate and
govern it using conventional law.
I hope this small information of the Malaysian
Cyber Law and Electronic Government Law
makes us realize how many actions the
government did to make our computers safe
from harm.And maintain harmony in the cyber
world.
