SAP EWM

Introduction
SAP EWM Releases :
SAP EWM was first released by SAP in 2005 as a part with SAP SCM 5.0 with following features :
Slotting
Deconsolidation
Cross docking
Yard Management
Kitting
VAS

In EWM 2007 ( also called EWM 5.1) SAP added some more features like :

RFID enabled for internal warehouse operations
Kit to Stock functions.
Catch Weight support .
Enhancement o serial number functionality
Enhancement of batch management
Manual creation of outbound delivery

In SAP EWM 7.0 SAP added some more functions like :
Graphical warehouse layouts.
Additional cross docking functionality like :
- Opportunistic cross docking
- production cross docking
Support for production supply from EWM management warehouse .

Organization structure EWM
First step for starting any processes in EWM is to set up an organization structure for the
same based on the warehouse numbers used for your business:

General starting settings for EWM ERP
Integrations :
Create a warehouse number and assign the same to required plant and storage locations.

Assign warehouse number to plant and storage location , generally as per the EWM definition there are two storage locations
define AFS (Available for sale ) and ROD ( Received on Dock ) .

In the ERP delivery line item when the combination of plant and storage location gives us the warehouse number and if this
warehouse number is relevant for EWM then that particular document ( ERP delivery is relevant for EWM .

General settings for ERP warehouse numbers with EWM numbers :

- Create a plant and storage location and assign to warehouse number(ERP IMG >Enterprise structure>Assignment >Logistics
execution >Assign warehouse number to plant and storage location)

- Activate decentralized WMS ( ERP IMG >Logistics execution>Decentralized WMS Integration>Central
Processing>Application>Activate Decentralized WMS )

- Assign Warehouse number of ERP to warehouse number of EWM to activate the WMS ( ERP IMG >Integration with Other
mySAP.com Components>Extended Warehouse Management > Assign Warehouse Number to Warehouse Number of Decentralized
SCM System )

-Activation of EWM in ERP ( having multiple setting like - delivery distribute indicator , serial number in EWM , distribution mode )
( ERP IMG >Logistics execution > Service Parts Management (SPM)>Integrate SPM with Other Components > Maintain Extended
WM-Specific Parameters).

Delivery split indicators in ERP IMG :
-Define delivery split per delivery type
-Determine delivery split per warehouse number

Define the EWM warehouse and assign the same to ERP warehouse number in EWM IMG .

Integration between EWM and ERP
EWM is technically based on SAP SCM basis and EWM is decentralized by design .
Decentralized EWM system has a benefit to use when the ERP or the main centralized
system is down then at that point of time you can use the same for other warehouse
activities.
The interfaces between EWM and ERP uses the qRFC technology for communications.
Earlier that 2005 , Idocs were used for the communications between EWM and ERP and it
was based on the interface that already existed for connecting ERP and decentralized
DWM system.
Generally we need to do some basis system setup for the ERP and EWM system to be in
connection with each other , we need to do some of the BASIS SYSTEM SETUP like :

- Create an RFC user in EWM/ERP.
-Name the logical system and assign them to client
- Define the RFC destination in ERP
- Maintain the qRFC monitor settings in ERP.
- Set user parameter for data transfer
- Define separate business system and set up control for qRFC

Master data integration
The exchange and synchronization of the master data between EWM and ERP is
managed in an implementation of qRFC know as SAP CIF .
CIF is core interface which is used to transfer the master data from ERP to EWM as
per the master data integration process between ERP and EWM.
Master data created in ERP can be transferred to EWM manually and
automatically via batch jobs so that the data can be immediately transferred to
EWM from ERP.
We need to create and activate CIF model in ERP so that we can initiate the
transfer of material master created in ERP to EWM.
To create and integration model we use the T code CFM1 and to activate that
model we can use the T code CFM2.
