Learning Outcomes By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

i) listen and complete a task sheet using information
found in a story.
ii) respond to the story by expressing their own opinions.
iii) predict the development of the story.
iv) ask and answer questions based on the story.

Language Focus WH-Questions
Behavioural Objectives By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:

i. Answer 3 out of 5 question in the task sheet given
ii. List out 5 out of 10 nouns in the story
iii. Predict the ending of the story according to their
creativity

Previous Knowledge Students have the basic knowledge of the nouns such as
name of objects

Teaching Aids Task sheets, audio clip (The Little Fish and The Big Fat
Bean), large pictures and flash cards
Added Values Thinking Skills, Multiple Intelligences, and Moral Values
Steps
Pre-Listening
1. Teacher provides students with several flash
cards with new words from the story.
2. Each of the students will be provided with
dictionaries and they are required to search or
guess the meaning of the words given.
3. Teacher and students will discuss the meaning
of the words together.

While Listening

1. Teacher starts by introducing the students with the title and
background of the story.
2. Teacher then continues the lesson by showing the students large
pictures of the characters in the story and also the setting of the
story.
3. Next, teacher will play Part 1 of the story and pause the clip to
give time for pupils to work on Task Sheet 1.
4. Replay Part 1 for pupils to check their answers.
5. Ask questions to encourage pupils to think critically and creatively.
Examples:
a) Describe the little fish.
b) Do you think its safe to swim away on your own? Why?
c) What do you think happened after this?
6. Play Part 2 of the story.
7. Pupils listen to Part 2 of the story and check their
predictions.
8. Talk about the story. Ask questions.
9. Get pupils to form groups. Each group is given word
cards.
10. Pupils rearrange the cards and form a complete
question.
Examples:
a) What was the fishs nickname ?
b) Where did the bean live ?
c) Who did the fish complain To ?
d) Why did the fish cry ?
11. Each group reads out their completed question. The
other groups answer the question.
Post-Listening (Speaking)
1. Get pupils to act out parts of the story.
