 ‫مسلمانان چرا زارند و خوارند‬
‫شبی پیش خدا بگریستم زار‬
‫مسلمانان چرا زارند و خوارند‬
‫ندا آمد ‪ ،‬نمیدانی کہ این قوم‬
‫دلی دارند و محبوبی ندارند‬
Why is the Muslim so miserable ?
I wept bitterly one night
before God and asked Him:
Why are the Muslims so
miserable ?
Came the reply, don’t you
know?
this Community possesses
the heart but has no beloved.
 ‫ناامید از قوت دین مبین‬
‫‪Speaking about the modern Muslim, Afghani says‬‬
‫در ضمیر ملت گیتی شکن‬
‫دیدہ ام آویزش دین و وطن‬
‫روح در تن مردہ از ضعف یقین‬
‫ناامید از قوت دین مبین‬
‫ترک و ایران و عرب مست فرنگ‬
‫ہر کسی را در گلو شست فرنگ‬
‫مشرق از سلطانی مغرب خراب‬
‫اشتراک از دین و ملت بردہ تاب‬
 The spirit is dead in the body
through weakness of faith
 In the heart of a people that once shattered the
world
 I have seen a conflict between religion and
country.
 The spirit is dead in the body through weakness
of faith,
 Despairs of the strength of the manifest religion;
 Turk, Persian, Arab intoxicated with Europe
 And in the throat of each the fish-hook of Europe;
 And East wasted by the West’s imperialism,
 Communism taken the luster from religion and
community
[In his heart there is no burning fire,
Mustafa is not living in his heart.]
