OVERVIEW:

Computing is an important part of everyday life in the twenty-first century. From music and photos to banking
and communicating, computers have changed the way we work and live. This course introduces you to the
fundamentals of computing. Students will be able to gain insight on understanding the different types of
software applications.

As part of the basic skills, the student will review basic practices with the keyboard, knowledge on computer
concepts, and skills in a word processor.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

The computer lab course is focused in providing the student with practice in basic computer skills
while applying their work in real situations with other subjects. By providing these skills and
experiences the student will cultivate:

1. Organizational skills: time management and both arrangement of documents within a folder and
within the document.

2. Computer maintenance skills.

3. Creativity to develop individual projects.

These skills will give students the tools needed to carry out their tasks in the work place and in their
private lives.


INTRODUCTION:

With a wide variety of software applications available today, this course intends to explore the most
common productivity software applications used in business, in education, and at home. The course
teaches the students how to select and use the right software for your project. The student will be
going over the fundamentals of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and
databases.
