What is the storyline?
The main character, Dominik, who is an- "above average"/intelligent high school boy who
has lots of friends, a rich family and well organised life. This however changes after an
"innocent orgasm" or in other words a dare which involved him kissing another guy and
was spread on the internet. This starts to tear his life apart, through humiliation and
bullying.
This then takes a negative impact on him as he begins to isolate himself from the rest of
the world, causing him to spend more time on his computer where he meets an
anonymous girl who introduces him to a site called 'The Suicide Room'. This site has no
escape for people who join, which caused them to become addicted and obsessed and
causes them to become caught in a trap of his emotions, causing him to lose what means
the most to him.
The movie ends with Dominik's parents at a ballet, though divorced and sitting in
different places. The drunk couple's footage of Dominik is interspersed with the ballet. It
is revealed that, instead of returning to the bar, Dominik was screaming for his parents in
the bathroom of the bar as he died from overdosing. He sticks his fingers down his throat
in an attempt to throw up the pills but it is already too late. The video ends up on The
Suicide Room wall.

How does this link to our music video?
The film bases around homophobia because of Dominiks dare was
kissing another guy, which was then shared and spread out to the rest
of society, causing discrimination and alienation. This links towards
our music video as the meaning to the song were doing highlights
the idea of being strong and standing for yourself against a unfair and
discriminative society.
What ideas have been taken from this
film?
The idea of discrimination and alienation within the society through
violence and humiliation. This could be used in our music video to
show the sickening nature of what is inflicted on the victim and the
impacts of it.
The use of an escape from the real world, through either a virtual
world, such as in the film Dominik uses a site The Suicide Room to
escape from reality and forms his own world through it. This would
play a big part in our music video as it helps create illusion and
reality/ the power of the imagination to transport us away from
reality.
The use of generic sub cultures/tribes which can help groups of
people identify the culture and tap into it.

Intertextual references
As well as the film linking to the morals of our song meaning, it also
links to Afrika Shox in how it shows difference and discrimination in
society. The black war veteran is seen as an outsider towards the
outside world, which at the end he is extinguished, just like Dominik is
as in the end Dominik commits suicide.
