Review by : Umar Amin Mir MBA I- div-B (TEAM-20) Why the name PIRATES The word PIRATES is added to the title of the movie because the ideas developed by JOBS and GATES were actually the invention of their unconsidered competitor XEROX as you people might have noticed JOBS quoting PICASSO a lot of times saying
GOOD ARTISTS COPY, GREAT ARTISTS STEAL
PLOT The film is about Steve Jobs ( the co- founder of Apple Inc.) and Bill Gates (the co-founder of Microsoft). This film historically traces the development of these two computer companies from the times these two gentlemen are in college ( the early to mid 1970`s) to approximately till the time Steve Jobs was fired by John Sculley, then CEO of Apple Computers in 1985. PERSONALITY TRAITS
STEVE JOBS ( Character played by Noah Wyle) a visionary - ability to elicit quality work in others - expecting the best both from himself and his coworkers - setting high standards and pushing his co- workers to perform to their best, to take pride in their work - his comment to John Sculley ( President Apple Inc.) about Selling sugar and water or CHANGING THE WORLD is a clear example of his expectations from others and of himself. - In short a good leader but his passion for corporate supremacy leading him to emerge as a poor manager of the human resources at times shown by his clashes with the board of directors and humiliating an aspiring APPLE Inc. employee. BILL GATES ( Character played by Anthony Micheal Hall a manipulator Living in his private world of imagination. success at any cost - lie - playing emotions - steal all this doesnt really matter to him Mastermind with the twisted look. and the right move at the right time Lessons from the movie In order to be DIFFERENT from others one should have a never-say-die-attitude Defeat, even a big one , is NOT the end of the road. The set of leadership skills one should have to be EXTRA- ordinary . To be a succesful you can, YES YOU CAN! Start from zero but all you need to have is an INNOVATIVE MIND ,DETERMINATION and a never fading PASSION! And last but not the least
