Introduction
S We are going to present the chapter 2 :
Mahbub Ali of Kim

S In this work we going to present the
different cultures that we can find in the
book, also the character their
characterization, the plot and other
important details.
Indian Culture
S The Indian culture varies from
every place in it. It is a very
old culture.

S Religion: India is the
birthplace of Hinduism,
Buddhism, Jainism and
Sikhism, collectively known as
Indian religions.
S Marriage: The majority of
Indians have their marriages
planned by their parents and
other respected family-
members, with the consent of
the bride and groom.
S Celebration: India, celebrates
holidays and festivals of various
religions. The four national
holidays in India, the
Independence Day, the
Republic Day and many other
celebrations.
S Animals: In Hinduism, the cow
is regarded as a symbol of
ahimsa , mother goddess and
bringer of good fortune and
wealth.
S Clothes: Traditional clothing in
India greatly varies by culture,
geography and climate. Popular
styles of dress include draped
garments such as sari for
women and lungi for men.

British Culture

S Religion: The main religion in
Britain is Christianity. Most
Christians belong to the
Church of England or the
Church of Scotland. These
are Protestant Churches.
There are also many Roman
Catholics.

S Language: The official
language in England is the
English
British Culture
S Politics: The United Kingdom has
a parliamentary government that
control by the Westminster
system that has emulated around
the world a legacy of the British
Empire.
S The Palace of Westminster has
two houses:
S House of Commons
S House of Lords

Irish Culture

S Religion: Roman Catholicism is
the most widely practiced
religion in Ireland.

S Languages: Irish and English are
the most widely spoken
languages in Ireland. English is
the most widely spoken language
on the island overall, and Irish is
spoken as a first language only
by a small minority.

Characters and
Characterization
S Mahbub Ali or C25 1B: he is a famous Pashtun horse trader
and spy for the Britishan and dyed his beard red to hide his
age.

S The lama: search for the Four Holy Places before he will die
and also he is a Buddhist from Tibet .

S Kim: is an orphan son of an Irish soldier that was a sergeant
in a regiment of the British army.
Plot
S When he lama wake up and was confused, then he start to
cry because his Chela has gone. Then Kim after the lama
tell the truth he decide and tell to the lama that he is his
Chela. He lead the lama through the city until they find the
Kashmir Serai, a place where the horse dealers came, also
a place where they can eat and rest.

S Then Kim talk with Mahbub who was a secret agen. He ask
Kim the favor, in exchange of giving him money, to carry a
message to a British officer. After Mahbub gave to him the
money Kim decided that it was better to begin the dangerous
journey immediately.

Conflict and Antagonist
S The conflict appears with the mistrust between
the travelers and the people in India, Kim doesnt trust in
the lama at first sight.

S The antagonist is Ali, because he mak their journey more
difficult but at the end he help them.
Protagonist and Setting
S The protagonist: is Kim, the story focus on his life
and his new journey and all what he had to pass
through.

S The setting is the Wonder House where the lama
wakes the other is the city in which Kim lead the
lama to the Kashmir Serai and the Kashmir Serai
where Kim ask for money to Ali and decide to begin
their journey.
Conclusion
S It is a shame that in the city exist so much mistrust and
gets ruined just because some problems that in the end
doesnt matter too much and that living alone in a big city
involve claims for an inner change late or soon.
