EU
are primarily located in Europe. The EU operates through a system of supranational independent
institutions and intergovernmental negotiated decisions by the member states. Institutions of the
EU include the European Commission, theCouncil of the European Union, the European Council,
the Court of Justice of the European Union and also.
The EU traces its origins from the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) and the
European Economic Community (EEC), formed by the Inner Six countries in 1951 and 1958,
respectively. The Maastricht Treaty established the European Union under its current name in
The EU has established a single market in all Member States. A monetary union, the euro area
is composed of 17 member states which use the euro. In 2010 the EU generated an estimated
26% (16.242 billion dollars) of gross domestic product in the world, so the EU is the largest
economy in the world. It is the largest exporter, the largest importer of goods and services and
the largest trading partner for many countries like China, India and USA.
