Objective
To find whether or not there is a requirement of
Laundromat Service in the BITS Pilani campus.

Introduction
Laundromat Service is a clothes washing
service where in which management employ
staff to provide service for the customers.
The staff will pick-up the clothes to be washed,
weigh them and them they are washed, dried
and folded before dropping off at the pick-up
point.
This is often referred to as Fluff & Fold, Washn-Fold, Drop Off, bachelor bundles, a service
wash or full-service wash.

Methodology
Survey within the BITS Pilani Campus.

Questionnaire based upon current washing

system, other choices available in the nearby
places, Laundromat service & other possible
alternative.
Separate for those who are using different
washing systems.
Survey questionnaire sent to students,
Researchers & faculty members.

Results
Survey Questionnaire filled by 284 students &
Research Scholars.
Interviewed 4 administrative staff & one SU
President.

Highlights of Personal Interviews

It is not BITS management decision but the
decision of Student Union.
BITS management did not approach the
Laundromat service providers but happened
vice versa.
Extension of the project depends upon the
response of the students.
No financial budget was allotted to Laundromat
Service. BITS provided minimum requirements
like Electricity, Water and Space on charged
basis.

Highlights from the Survey

76% of survey takers wants to have
Laundromat Service.
44% of them are looking for a price range in
between Rs. 80 100 per 6 kgs of clothes.
29% of them are looking for a price range of
less than Rs.80 per 6 kgs of clothes.
92% of them feel that laundromat service can
enhance the quality of washing.

Financial Implications
No budget allocation

Basic requirements for setting up the trail

version of Laundromat service are provided.
i.e.Electricity, Water & Space.
BITS management does not take the money
from students but the laundromat service
providers do.
BITS Management is generating income out of
this service.

Alternatives
24% of those who are not satisfied with current
washing system are looking for installing
Washing Machines in every hostel so that they
can wash their clothes on their own.
In terms of budget, this alternative is not costeffective.

Conclusion
We, after deep analysis of the survey results,
conclude that there is a requirement of
laundromat service in the campus.
The price range of laundromat service should
be in between Rs. 80 100.
And it should be expanded to atleast one room
in every hostel so that students can directly
reach the laundromat service people at any
point of time.
