Introduction
 His full name is Fidel Alejandro Vittore Castro Ruz.
 Borned August 13, 1926
 At a sugar plantation in Birán, near Mayarí, in the
modern-day Holguin
Early Life
 Un common child
 Spent many years in private Catholic boarding schools
 Had interest in sports
Adversity
 Castro’s father left his family when he was just 15 years old
as a result he faced many challenges early in his life.
 Castro rose in many foster homes away from his father’s
house.
 Due to separation of their parents there were no bread winner
in the house and as a result he faced financial problems.

 His father Angel Castro first married with, Lina Ruz
González and then married to another woman,
Maria Luisa Argota.

 He was the third child born to Ángel Castro y Argiz,


Political Beginnings
 Entered law school at the University of Havana.
 1950 he graduated from law school with a Doctor of Laws degree.
 Stood against anti university gangs
 Started participating in university elections

Decision for revolution


 Castro spoke against the United States.
 Castro joined an anti-American demonstration trip to Bogotá, Colombia
.
26th of July Movement
 Overthrew the Fulgencio Batista government in
Cuba.
 He made his famous statement that "we are
fighting to do away with dictatorship in Cuba
and to establish the foundations of genuine
representative government" and promised to
"prepare and conduct truly honest general
elections within twelve months" after
success.

 Castro captured with some of his fellows.

 CIA made 638 attempts for his assassination.

“I began revolution with 82 men. If I had to do it again, I


do it with 10 or 15 and absolute faith. It does not matter
how small you are if you have faith and plan of action.”
