Why Split Backs??


Can utilize smaller, quicker players
Can get 2 TB-type players on the
field
Dive hits faster than the FB in I or
Flexbone

OUTSIDE VEER!

Basic Considerations
Must devote practice time to Option
Must be able to audible out of a bad
play
Must call veer plays when the Dive is
available
Must have complimentary plays
Are you an option team or a team
that runs option????????

Veer Offensive Line Play


Basics
OPTION FOOTBALL =
MOVEMENT!!
Double-team/Combo at the point of
attack
Proper hat placement, then come off
the ball and BE AGGRESSIVE!!
SEAL Build a wall and get
downfield on
the backside

Why Outside Veer?


A quick-hitting off-tackle play
A good companion to perimeter plays
Forces a 9 technique to play
assignment football
Puts 4-3 teams in a bind at the 9
technique area
A great short yardage / goal line play
