INTRODUCTION
Cell

phones are used everywhere in these days.

Blocking
Jammer

mobile frequency from 5 to 200 meters radius.

is a device to prevent cellular phones from

receiving signals from base stations.

This

device transmit signal on the same frequency at which

the GSM system operates, the jamming success when the
mobile phones in the area where the jammer is located are
disabled.
Phone jammer is suitable in executive offices,

board meetings,

conferences, seminars, libraries, cinemas, religious places,

public transport, concert halls and educational institutions
etc.

HISTORY
Mobile jammer were originally developed for law

enforcement and the military to interrupt

communications by criminals and terrorists.
Some were also designed to foil the use of certain
remotely detonated explosives.

JAMMER WORKS

by wireless
phones with radio waves.
3)Jamming signal needs enough power to collide
and
cancel GSM signal.
4)Cell phones are designed to increase their
power when
facing low level interface. Jammer should
recognize that
power.
5)power of jamming signal should match the
power
increase from the phone.
6)Jammers can block several network.
7)GSM ranges are Europe- 900 MHz, Asia- 1800
MHz,

USA- 1.9 GHz.

THE LEGAL ISSUES

In the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and
many other countries, blocking cell-phone services is
against the law.
It also represents a safety hazard because jamming
blocks all calls in the area, not just the annoying ones
In most countries, it is illegal for private citizens to
jam
cell-phone transmission.
India has installed jammers in parliament and some
Prisons

Types of Jammers
Type A
-large number of oscillators
-interferes large amount of communication
spectrum
Type B
-Intelligent Cellular Disabler Devices
-detectors communicate with Base Station
-prevent the authorization of call
establishment

Type C
-Intelligent Beacon Disablers
-compatible terminal is disabled
-eg. blue tooth technology
Type D
-jammer with a receiver
-jams the signal only when there is link
the base station and the mobile
-less electromagnetic pollution

between

Type E
-Faradays cage- blocks virtually all the EM
waves
-EMI sheilding techniques
- EMI - Electro Magnetic Interface
-quiet conference rooms

Application
a)To maintain the complete silence in library and
lecture hall.
b)To avoid disturbance in class room
c)To avoid fraud in examination hall
d)For providing security in business conference,
board
of directors rooms, seminars, etc.,
e)For providing calm and peaceful atmosphere in
hospitals
f)Church, Mosques, Cathedral, Temple, Religious
establishment

ADVANTAGES
Provides

Acoustic Isolation
Protect Against Breach of Security Policy
Prevent Accidental Eavesdropping
Protect Against Intentional
Eavesdropping

Disadvantages
It can be used for blocking signal illegaly
It can be used for tech-war.
It can be used for self benefit.
Can affect working of medical instruments
like pacemakers.

Things affecting
jamming
Proximity

to tower.
Presence of buildings.
Temperature
Humidity
Frequency Hoping
Jamming to signal ratio(J/S)

CONCLUSION

The increased technology of the cellular

phone has made life convenient and easy.
However in some situations this convenience
becomes a nuisance to other people. Areas such
as concert halls, conference rooms and theaters
are this nuisance is felt the most.
Cell-phone users don't know they're being
jammed. The phones just indicate that there's
no service or no signal from the network. The
jammer simply interrupts the phone's ability
to establish a link with the nearest cell-phone
tower.
