THE PROBLEM

Mangyan tribe of Oriental Mindoro is one of the indigenous

people of the Philippines.

The tribesmen are usually treated as second class people

in their own country and are commonly subjected to
abuse.

Lots of Mangyan children are uneducated

No proper facility intended for them to study in high school

Poverty is also one of the major problems in their

community

This research aims to answer the

following questions:
What are the facilities that are necessary for the development of
Mangyan communities in the realities of their life and culture?
What innovations are needed to help the tribe for the fast, easy way
of learning and development since they are not yet familiar with
modern facilities?
What kind of environment the facility should have to fit their way of
living.

Goals, Objectives and Strategies

-To plan a complex and design a structure which will serve as a
learning and inner skills development complex for the
Mangyan tribe of Oriental Mindoro.
-To design a structure as an extension of what the tribes
environment is.
-To design a structure that will perfectly suit the way of life of
the Mangyan people
-To design a structure that will show visitors/tourists the
culture of Mangyan and their daily way of living

The objective of this study is to propose a learning

and inner skills development complex for Mangyan
specifically, high-school with dormitory and
handicrafts training center, which will help in:

educational institutions concerning indigenous
people and as well as the government.

aiming to help educating indigenous people in our
country.

Scope and Limitations

The design for this proposal is only focus on the
two tribes which are located in the town of Baco,
namely Alangan and Iraya.
The reason why the researcher targeted those
tribes is that they are the most willing and open
to be educated among all the twelve tribes,
another reason is that they are the most skilled in
making handicrafts

Need Analysis
Since, the most numbers of Mangyan are located in the
town of Baco, the research will focus on the tribes located
there, which are Alangan and Iraya.

According to Mayor Reynaldo A. Marco, municipal Mayor of

Baco, there is truly a lack of learning facility specifically
high school, intended for Mangyan people in their town.

There are lots of skilled handicraft maker but didnt able to

practice it due to lack of facility, attention and opportunity
