RE-BELLO

RE: Revolution
BELLO: Italian word for beauty.

FACTS
For 2.5% of farmed area, cotton plantations consume 24% of
insecticides and 11% of pesticides
2.720 L of water are needed to produce one t-shirt; the same
amount is enough to quench the thirst of a person for 3 years
20.000 liters of water are needed to produce 1 Kg of cotton:
the amount is enough just for one t-shirt and a pair of jeans
123 g of chemical fertilizer are needed to produce one t-shirt
The irrigation of cotton fields in Russia is one of the major
causes for the desiccation of the Aral lake from 68.000 m2
in 1960 to 6.800 in 2007

PRODUCTION
Most environment friendly step.
Social problems-unsafe work environment;
child labor;
Clothes produced in Mediterranean
countries

PRINTING/EMBROIDERY
Water based paint used for prints.

This is the most polluted phase, and is
hence omitted.
TRANSPORTATION
