Also called notebook.
Are portable computers
integrate the display, keyboard, a pointing
device or trackball, processor, memory
and hard drive all in a battery-operated
package
larger than an average hardcover book.

4) PALMTOP
More commonly known as Personal Digital
Assistants (PDAs),
use flash memory instead of a hard drive for
storage.
These computers usually do not have
keyboards but rely on touchscreen technology
for user input.
Smaller than a paperback novel, very lightweight
with a reasonable battery life.
A larger and heavier version of the palmtop is
the handheld computer.

The latest trend in computing

database, multimedia,
calendar/scheduler) are integrated into watches,
cell phones, visors and even clothing.

 In hospitals wearable computers would make the

life of many people easier,
for example, patients would not have to come to
the hospital as often because doctors could be
able to monitor them through their devices.
Access to information would be instant and this
would save a lot of time for doctors and their
patients .

 This technology is also used to conserve power

consumption by placing the unit in standby mode when
the users arm hangs down beside the body (patentpending).
This enhanced power management functionality enables
the user to continuously interface with the unit up to
more than 8 hours without interruption, depending on
usage.
Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS

 The US Army is using the latest in

technology to eliminate soldier's limitations
when it comes to accessing information
and communicating.

 In telecommunications industries such as

Motorola, wearables are being used by
employees to keep their hands and eyes
on the task without having to move
towards a computer
therefore increasing productivity and
minimizing costs.
