QUESTION TIME
What is the title of our gospel for today?
Answer: The Rejection at Nazareth
Aside from the book of Matthew, in what
other book is this gospel written?
Answer: Mark and Luke
Mark (6:1-6)
Luke (4:16-30)
He came to his
native place and
taught the people in
their synagogue.
He came to
Nazareth, where he
had grown up, and
went according to
his custom into the
synagogue on the
Sabbath day.
Mark
(6:1-6)
Luke
(4:16-30)
They were
astonished..
Mark
(6:1-6)
Luke
(4:16-30)
Mark
(6:1-6)
Jesus said to
them, "A
prophet is not
without honor
except in his
native place
and among his
own kin and in
his own
house.
Reflection: It is hard for the people
to accept Jesus because they
thought they know him all too well.
In Luke, Jesus told them that only
the chosen will be saved.
Luke
(4:16-30)
And he said "Amen, I say to you, no
prophet is accepted in his own native
place. Indeed, I tell you, there were
many widows in Israel in the days of
Elijah when the sky closed for three
and a half years and a severe famine
spread over the entire land. It was
none of these that Elijah was sent, but
only a widow in Zarephath in the land
of Sidon. Again, there were many
lepers in Israel during the time of
Elisha the prophet; yet not one of
them was cleansed, but only Naaman
the Syrian."
Mark
(6:1-6)
Luke
(4:16-30)
