LUSAS

INTRODUCTION

Geometry
Use global co-ordinates system for
point, line surface and volume
geometry.
Can import .dxf files but it breaks
down into discrete elements.
(File>import> .dxf)

Attribute
1. Meshing:
Each element (line, surface, volume) should be
meshed before assigning any geometric,
material etc. properties to it.
More divisions for accurate results.
For slab, use thick shell meshing because plate
element results are in global directions hence
using irregular mesh will have incorrect woodarmer results due to different orientation.
However, shell element results will be consistent.

2. Geometric attribute
Section properties on line, surface.
Line Bar and beam of varying crosssection

Material
Predefined properties are given in
section library.
For user properties, select isotropic
to material elastic and plastic
properties such as youngs modulus,
poissons ratio, axial compressive
stress, etc.

Supports
Use standard lusas interfacePredefined support conditions will be
there in tree-view
Fixed, Pinned, Spring stiffness, etc
