Control Theory

States that "People refrain from deviant

behavior because diverse factors control
their impulses to break social norms.
Travis Hirschi in the late 1960s

Control theories take the opposite approach

from other theories in criminology .

It is actually the idea that two control

systems inner controls and outer controls
work against our tendencies to deviate

If these restraining factors are thought to

involve society in some way, then the
theory is said to be a "social" control theory

saifi is highly discriminated during his childhood

By his own father

Saifis sister send him to a workplace to him to a work place

He tries to fit into society, But society is not

ready

Saifi get harrased at work place by few people

ta after this he suffocated to death

why these people(intersex) cant fit into our society. ??

Survival of the fittest according to this theory the

fittest will be successful and the less fit or weak shall
perish
Implementatio
n:
unstable biological characteristics
cant marry & make their families
(basic unit )
So they lag in survival of fittest

Gender discrimination refers to the practice of granting

or denying rights
or privileges to a person based on
theirgender
Implementation:
Highly discriminated at home
Discriminated again and work place

functionalist approach explains what role inequality

plays in sustaining
the equilibrium of the society. social stratification ensure
that the most important role will be fulfilled by the most
talented people

Implementation:
Poor education no important skill
We cant see these people as
professionals
Negligible role in sustaining equilibrium of
society
Society in response, give less importance

Real life experience

analyze these people (the hermaphrodite ), I visit and conducted

w interviews with them. They were living in separate apartments
capsulated from society. Far away from their homes

General attributes observed in their appearance :

Barely they had primary education
Poor hygienic life
Belongs to poor families
Soft and mild behavior
Very humorous
Loves makeup ,dance and music
very expressive Not shy at all
80% of them report as sexually sterile and 20%
sexually active
They were dying to look like women

Here are few answers they gave to me

during interview
Q1) what culture (riwaaj)
means to you ?

Ans) people dont respect us

at all. When I was at home
and whenever I attended a
funeral or wedding .people
were taunting me who brings
you here ? what are you doing
here ? just leave.
This Reflects Gender
Discrimination

Q5) how do you see yourself

or your life ?
Ans) we can neither marry a
girl nor a boy .we also want to
live a family life but we cant
do it, we are just messing
around here. This not a life at
all..
