HW Configuration Protection overview

Extension unit allows to have the protection of


E1 tributaries multiplex / demultiplex (EPS)
/!\ Ethernet ports are not protected. EPS should be set in revertive mode

Radio Transmission failure (HST)


Reception failure (RPS)
Due to propagation activity or card failure

Protection configurations are 1+1 HST and 1+1 FD

Patch Panel has been designed to be used in 1+1 configuration, but it can be
used in 1+0 configuration as well (even recommanded in case of a future
upgrade).

Caution on IDU ODU connector


Before to put the IDU-ODU cable, check that
the hexagonal washer is properly tightened
(failure on R2.0 has been noticed: ICP, Cable
LOS)

Caution on inter-IDUs SCSI


Insure that the cable is properly plugged
(failures on R2.0 has been noticed : RUP, ICP,
transmission KO)

Caution on connector columns


When disconnecting an interface, take care
that columns may remain attached to the
screws
