AUSCHWITZ

By: Kersten Reed and Cassidy Cunnyngham

Auschwitz is the largest concentration camp/killing center.
The largest number of Jews were killed here. Mass murdering became
a regular thing: 10,000 a day. Towards the end of the war when they
were trying to save money because gassing was expensive, they
killed people by putting them in large pits.

In the beginning Auschwitz was housed for Polish
prisoners of war.
During the war Auschwitz/ Birkenau was built for housing large
Numbers of Jews and they killed them by gassing.
The Jewish were being tricked they thought they were going to
take a shower but the Nazi had something else in plan such as putting
them in there and shutting the door. After millions went in without any
return the others got suspicious and figured something bad had happened.

Josef Mengele ; The Angel of Death.
He was the leader of the camp and the chief for gassing.
When one section of woman had lice, he would gas all 750 woman. He was
Reported a good, cultured lady’s man. Another interesting fact about
Josef Mengele was that he was one of the few to escape.

%20Experimentation/Pics/mengele1.jpg

Josef Mengele was fascinated with twins. He would draw

blood from the twins, inject chloroform into their hearts killing them
instantaneously. Mengele began dissecting and noting each and
every piece of their bodies. One time Menegle sewn twins together
to create Siamses twins. He often injected chemicals into the eyes
to change the color.
Carl Clauberg; Crazy doctor
He was another doctor that came to the camp to start his medical
experimental activities. Thousands of Jewish and Gypsy woman were
subjected to this treatment. They injected something producing pains,
ovaries inflamed, and bleeding. It ruined ovaries of victims, removed
and then put to Berlin. Other crazy doctors would kill the children with
oil, rub ground glass and sawdust in their wounds. Like I said crazy.

Oscar Schindler; saver of lives

Only one man was able to get prisoners out of Auschwitz

was Oscar Schindler.
“I knew something had gone terribly wrong . . They cut our hair real short
and sent us to the shower. Our only hope was Schindler would find us . . “
(http://www.auschwitz.dk/Auschwitz.htn)

On their way to the showers they heard somebody getting mad.

It turned out that it was Schindler and he was wanting his woman back.
The women were the only ones released during WWII. Most said the only
way they got out was out the chimney. When women got back weak, hungry,
frostbitten, and less than human but they were glad he was able to save them.
He died penniless but he won the hearts of many Jews.

Some crazy ways of death:
Firing Squad: The Nazi would line up Jews and just shoot them. They were
afraid that shooting people up close like that would make the Nazi head
crazy.

Hell vans: People loaded into the back of the vans. While they were going
they would breath the exhaust of the engine. They would then get to a
Destination and either burry or burn the bodies in large pits.

Carbon Monoxide: Started “showers of carbon monoxide” while bathing. Instead

Of using water, the shower heads were attached up to canisters of carbon
monoxide.(tasteless, highly toxic causes death and suffusions.)

Zyklon B:Gas that would kill lice. When it was exposed to heat, the air
Made crystals producing lethal gas. This was the one that was used the most in
Auschwitz.
