THE KEYBOARD

Incomputing, acomputer keyboardis atypewriter-style device, which uses an

arrangement of buttons orkeys, to act as mechanical levers or electronic switches.
A keyboard typically has charactersengraved orprintedon the keys and each press of a
key typically corresponds to a single written symbol. However, to produce some symbols
requires pressing and holding several keys simultaneously or in sequence. While most
keyboard keys produceletters, numbersor signs (characters), other keys or simultaneous
key presses can produce actions or execute computer commands.

Awireless routeris a
device that performs the
functions of arouterand
also includes the
functions of awireless
access point. It is used to
provide access to
theInternetor a
privatecomputer
network. It can function
in a wired LAN (local area
network), in a wirelessonly LAN (WLAN), or in a
mixed wired/wireless
network, depending on
the manufacturer and
model.

by the computer, the

Ajoystickis aninput

that pivots on a base and
reports its angle or
direction to the device it is
controlling. A joystick, also
known as thecontrol
column, is the principal
control device of many
civilian and military
aircraft, either as a center
stickorside-stick. It often
has supplementary
switches to control various
aspects of the aircraft's
flight.

computer monitors were
used fordata processing
whiletelevision receivers
were used for
entertainment. From the
1980s onwards, computers
(and their monitors) have
been used for both data
processing and
entertainment, while
televisions have
implemented some
computer functionality.
