rice, sugar cane, hay, sweet potatoes, and soybeans.

Poultry is the leading animal crop of Louisiana. Other animal
crops produced are dairy & beef cows, horses, rabbits, ostriches

The Acadians were French people who came to Louisiana from Nova
Scotia, Canada. This video shows what their life was like. The actors are
third graders and kindergarteners from Shenandoah Elementary.

Back

Legislative Branch
The Legislative Branch includes the House of Representatives and
the Senate. This branch of government convenes in Baton Rouge to
make laws for our state. There can be no more than 39 members in
the Senate, and no more than 105 members in the House.

The Judicial Branch includes the state supreme court, courts of


appeal, district courts, and sheriffs office. This branch of government
serves our state by enforcing laws and resolving legal conflicts.

The Executive Branch includes the Governor, Lt. Governor, and


other officials whose job is to see to the execution and
enforcement of the laws that are established by the legislature.
