 NAME: -The name ‘Tesco’, was first used on


tea, and was derived from the initials of
Cohen's (founder) tea supplier, T. E Stockwell,
combined with the first two letters of Cohen.

 Good strategy providing an easy purchasing system
including discounts for their customers (clubcard).
 CRITICISM:
Race to the bottom effect: Tesco’s mission to bring “unbeatable
value” for shoppers has pressed down prices so far that some UK
farmers are on the brink of bankruptcy. And research among its
suppliers overseas reveals that some pay workers wages which
keep them in poverty and have only minimal health and safety
protection in place. This will cause a major disadvantage for other
workers.
