Learning Management System (LMS)

software application for administration, documentation, tracking,


reportng & delivery of e-learning education course or training programs.
LMSs range from systems for managing training & educational
records to software for distributing online/blended /hybrid college
courses over internet with features for online collaboration.
Colleges and Universities use LMS to deliver online courses and
augment on campus courses.

Another term Integrated Learning System (ILS) additional functionality

Originally used to describe the management system in PLATO K-12
LS, content free and separate from courseware.
Currently used to describe a no. of different educational computer
applications.

Frame work which handles all aspects of learning process.


Infrastructure that delivers and manages instructional content,
identifies and assesses individual and organizational learning or
training goals, tracks the progress towards meeting those goals,
and collects and presents data for supervising learning process as
a whole.
