legislative body of Brazils
federal government.

By use of basic elements

Sir Oscar niemeyer created

work.

element of design in this
work .

AESTHATICS
This building is a critical reflection of art culture
and nature
At first a concept is developes .Then the
concept starts to take form by including the
functions attached to it. Then, this formis
further shaped structurally and materially.
Finally, the form is realized in three
dimensionsbytakingcareofthesoundrelated(a
coustics),lightrelated(illumination)andspatial
considerations
And thus a building with such aesthatics is
created

Two cuboidal buildings

A concave dish
A convex dish
A horizontal cuboidal slab

The repetition of grills pillars in a particular interval creates a rhythm in the

building

If we view the two vertical buildings they are symmetrical but overall the
composition
Is asymmetric .

This building is visually balanced
The vertical weights balance the horizontal weights
The concave dish seems to balance the vertical structures and convex dish

Emphasizing on a particular element which
eventually takes the attention at first glance

This can be explained by usage of curve and

straight forms together .
The vertical buildings and concave and convex
dishes ,although are contrast but create an
excellent visual variety which attracts the eye .

PROPORTION

This building is very large in proportion to human body

Thus creating a magnificent feeling .

COLOUR & TEXTURE

Colour is an aspect of architectural
design that provides a wide array of
potential affects .
White is the colour of ultimate purity .
It brings the feeling of peace , comfort
and equality .
WHITE colour is used entirely in the
exterior of the building but the
alternate or contrast textures catch
and project light differently .As we can
see in the smooth texture of discs and
comparatively rough in the vertical

THEME &VARIATION

In what building does your national congress

meet? If you take a step back, look at your
national buildings with fresh eyes, they generally
reflect a time far past and a symbolism long
dead. In Brazil, the renowned architect Oscar
Niemeyer gave his vision to his own countrys
congress with the National Congress of Brazil
building.
Thus creating a new idea , a new variation with
existing theme

EXPRESSIVE ELEMENT
The DESIGN .It yields the feeling of
balanced emotion, with two
opposing sides intersected by a
symbol of equality. Whether the
cup is half full or half empty, it is
the justice of the national congress
of Brazil that provides the true
balance. Niemeyers vision is alive
and well in the Brazilian congress of
today.

CONCLUSION
Thus Sir Oscar Niemeyer using
almost every element of
design in a perfect way
designed an excellent
example of modern
architecture which inspires
architects and common people
till day and will remain forever
inspiring
