Findings.

 I gave my questionnaire to 20
people, to complete. I made sure I
asked a selection of ages to get a
variety of results.
 I asked 10 males and 10 females, to
make my results accurate.
What is your favourite genre of music?
What is your favourite genre of music?

Alternative rock
Rock
Drum and Bass
Pop
R'n'B
Other

For this question I allowed the people participating in my questionaire to choose

more than one answer, as I understand some people enjoy more than one genre of
music. The most popular genres were ‘Alternative rock’ and ‘pop’. Pop was most
popular with the younger ages, especially with girls, however from previous research
I had predicted this would happen. On the other hand ‘Alternative rock’ was more
popular with the older teens and with both genders. The genre ‘Drum and bass’ was
also a popular genre of music between the older teens and was again picked by both
genders. However the choice of ‘R’n’B, and other choices was a weak choice getting
small percentage of the vote.
Do you buy music magazines?
Do you Buy music magazines?
This was a short closed
question and found out
that the majority of my
Yes participants didn’t buy
No
music magazines. I then
went on to ask why, and
most said it was because
the regular magazines
they usually purchased
often had music
supplements in as well as
other topics which also
interested them. This
helped me develop my
ideas further.
How often do you buy a magazine?
How often do you buy a magazine?

None of the people I asked bought a daily magazine as they thought

this was too much and too expensive. However the majority of the
people I asked bought a magazine monthly. Another popular choice
was other. Some people only bought magazines occasionally.
What do you look for when buying a magazine?
 This was an open question, and I
got a variety of different answers
from this question, and helped me
develop my magazine and what it
was going to contain.
 A popular answer was articles
which interested them, this is an
important aspect of any magazine
as it entices any prospective
buyers.
 Another popular answer was an
attractive and an informative front
cover, which gives the reader an
insight in to the magazine.
 The most common answer I
received from my younger
participants was freebies. For
example free gifts and posters.
Would a Pop magazine interest you?

Although the majority of Would a Pop Magazine interest you?

my participants said a Pop

magazine wouldn’t interest
them i still would like my
music magazine to be Yes
No
based on the genre of Pop.
I felt the results of this
question were unfair as
Pop music mostly attracts
the younger generation
therefore I would have had
to ask more younger
people making my
questionaire unfair.
What features would your ideal pop magazine
include?
 A frequent and most
popular answer I received
when participants
answered this question was
celebrity gossip. Another
common answer was
posters and photographs of
current celebrities felt it
would be important to
include these in my
magazine to attract
prospective buyers. By
using the most popular
answer I felt this would
make my magazine more
attractive and liked.
