PRESENTATION ON FIRST AID

2015-16

INTRODUCTION
First aid is the provision of initial care
for an illness or injury. It is usually
performed by a lay person to a sick or
injured patient until definitive medical
treatment can be accessed. Certain selflimiting illnesses or minor injuries may
not require further medical care past the
first aid intervention. It generally
consists of a series of simple and, in
some cases, potentially life-saving
techniques that an individual can be
trained to perform with minimal
equipment.

OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of the project report
are:
to discuss briefly about the First aid.
to discuss the First aid facilities provided in
schools.
METHODOLOGY
The project report is prepared on the basis
of both primary and secondary data.
Secondary data are collected from various
books, journals and related websites in
internet where the primary data are
collected from different authorities related

FIRST AIDERS
SCHOOL

MAIN

DUTIES

AT

The main duties of a first aider are to:

give immediate help to casualties with
common injuries or illnesses and those arising
from specific hazards at school;
when necessary, ensure that an ambulance or
other professional medical help is called.

FIRST AID - WHAT DO SCHOOLS NEED

TO DO?
a)Employers must provide adequate and
appropriate equipment, facilities and
qualified first aid personnel.
b)Schools should ensure that:
Provision for employees does not fall
below the required standard;
Provision for pupils and others
complies with other relevant legislation
and guidance.

There is no mandatory list of items for a

first-aid
container.
However,
it
is
recommend that, where there is no special
risk identified, a minimum provision of firstaid items would be:
a leaflet giving general advice on first aid
20 individually wrapped sterile adhesive
dressings
two sterile eye pads
four
individually
wrapped
triangular
bandages
six safety pins;
six medium sized wound dressings
two large wound dressings;

The major findings that have been found

are:
It is found that the knowledge about the
first aid is very poor as about 71.43% of
the students dont have the basic
knowledge about it while only 28.57% of
them know a little about it.
About 85.71% of the students said that
the school doesnt teach them about the
first aid while only 14.29% of the
students said that they are taught about
the first aid in school.

SUGGESTION
The major findings that have been found
are:
First and foremost, the teachers must
give proper knowledge about the first aid
to the students so that they can be
aware of it.
The school authorities must organize
first aid camp regular basis.
As the most of the schools first aid
boxes do not contain the necessary
things, the school authorities must give a
special attention in the matter and
should provide all the basic necessary

CONCLUSION
As the concluding part of this project, I
would like to say that Without proper
action at proper time, danger awaits us
with a bigger face. We must act on time
when a child is injured. We must take care
of the child the way it is meant. Otherwise,
a valuable life might be lost. We need to
understand how precious lives of child are
and what importance first aid carries in
saving these precious lives. If this project
imparts this idea in even one child, I would
think that the project has been successful.
