Discussions of Career Planning typically include the following:
Current job:Does the employee have the skills to meet the
responsibilities of their current job?
Gaps:Assessing the persons current levels of competency and their
future requirements. This will reveal what gaps need to be addressed
to develop their skills so they can meet future job requirements
Future aspirations:Where does the employee see themselves in the
future? What business results do they hope to achieve?
Career plan:A roadmap is developed that enables the employee to
acquire the skill set needed for their current job and for the future.
The career plan, as part of the Performance Review Process,
includes:

A document between employee and
supervisor, drafted to address training and
career plans.
Designed to be generated in conjunction with
Performance Review and may be revised at
any time.
Requests for training are to be in accordance
with this plan & subject to funding availability.
Other training opportunities may be available,
in which case this plan will be revised to
reflect the training taken by the employee.
