Classification of Injuries:

MEDICO-LEGAL CLASSIFICATION:

LEGAL CLASSIFICATION:

SIMPLE INJURY
Any injury which is not Grievous or
Dangerous is a simple injury.

Grievous injury
Any of the following injuries are grievous:
1.Permanent privation of sight of either eye.
2.Permanent privation of olfaction of nose.
3.Permanent privation of hearing of either
ear.
DANGEROUS INJURIES
Those injuries which cause imminent danger
to life either by involvement of important
organs or structures or extensive area of the
body.
Dangerous weapons/means include any
instrument for shooting, stabbing or cutting
or any instrument which used as a weapon of
offence is likely to cause death.
MEDICOLEGAL REPORTING OF
INJURY
Reporting of injuries is one of the most common
medicolegal duties a medical officer in the Casualty
Department has to perform.

2. Identification of the person as regards to his Name,
Age, Sex, address and two specific identification
marks on the body.
3. Brief history about incidence: written as narrated
by the victim as far as possible in the victims
language.
4. External Examination:
a) The body is that of a normally developed,
essentially normally nourished Nepali male with
sharp force injuries on..
b) Clothing: what? any damage?
c) Explain in detail each & every injury
i. Type & number of injury
ii. Location of injury (two anatomical
landmarks, one longitudinal & other
transverse)
iii. Dimension of the injury
iv. Orientation/ direction of the injury
v. Any pecularities present: foreign body,
inflammation, infection, age etc.
