Also known as safety minutes or
safety chats, these talks can be
done in a variety of ways, but are
typically a brief (2-5 minute)
discussion on a safety related
topic. They can cover a variety of

Principle of the OSH Act

To make further provision for securing that safety, health and
welfare of persons at work, for protecting others against risks
to safety or health in connection with the activities of persons
at work, to establish the National Council for Occupational
Safety and Health and for matters connected therewith.

Exempted from this OSH Act

This Act is not applicable to persons working
ships except on board of ship exempted by the
Shipping Ordinance 1952 (Ord. 70/52), the
Shipping Ordinance 1960 of Sabah (Sabah Ord.
Sarawak (Sarawak Ord. 2/60).

OSH Act affects employee, the contractor and the

employer
This OSH Act will effect on duties of people in an organization.
Duties of an Employer
To ensure the safety, health and welfare at work of all his
employees and visitors.
To formulate safety and health policy.
Duties contractors
To provide sufficient information.
To eliminate or reduce hazard.
To build and fix the equipment with safety
feature.
Duties of an Employee
To take reasonable safety and health measure for himself and other
persons.
To co-operate with his employer or any other persons in the
discharge of any duty.
To use and wear at all times, any protective equipment or clothing
