Heres how L'Oreal is adopting to grow market share in India


LOreal has been present in India for more than 20 years, the company commands only
a8.5% market sharein Indias urban cosmetics market, much lower than its
approximately 15% market share in the global make up market. L'Oreal is third leading
operator in India. According to Nielsen, consumers in India buy more sachet-size
shampoos, conditioners and other products than regular-size products. Loreal is now
transitioning to tinier packaging to make its products affordable for the less affluent
section of the region and capture a higher market share.

Colgate regains some market share in April and May
Colgates market share in toothpaste has dipped from 57.2% in 2015 to 55.7% in April
2016. Daburs oral care portfolio was clocking double digit growth and Patanjali
Ayurveda Ltd.'s Dant Kanti crossed theRs.450 crore mark in financial year 2016. The
increase in the market share comes as Colgate has stepped up aggression in brand
investment and new launches, especially in the herbal space.
