2 Different Types of Student:

The student who has just completed the pharmacy technician


course and needs a cumulative module of training to review all
information just learned

The pharmacy technician in training who is working in the field


but has not yet been able to obtain licensure due to not passing
the certification test.

occurring Mondays through Thursdays
Class time: 730-1230pm
530pm-1030pm is an option if the need is great

Regardless of student type, this course will be a review of

all body systems

related medications including mechanisms of action, side effects,


category

pharmaceutical calculations

Upon completion of course, students will


successfully pass the National Pharmacy
Technician Certification Board Exam allowing them
to attain certification in the field
Students will attend all sessions and will schedule
their certification test in their third week

GOALS

Given a list of vitamins and minerals, students should be able to


identify their uses and therapeutic effects without error.

Given a list of medications for various body systems, students


should be able to identify the pharmacological uses and effects
of them without error.

Upon completion, students should be able to identify each recall


classification and, when given different scenarios, attribute the
correct classification to each without error.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion, students should be able to identify common


abbreviations, terms, and symbols used to describe drug therapy
without error.
Upon completion, students should be able to identify federal and
state laws governing the practice of pharmacy and all activities
related to its delivery without error.

Although previous courses have involved a variety


of media for instruction, this course will focus on a
combination of lecture hours and self-study time as
well as open-study time for one-on-one tutoring as
needed.

COURSE

TIMELINE

Course will be added on to the end of the current program as a


prerequisite for taking the certification test.

Regular class visits (by key personnel) will be implemented to build


interest

Current local pharmacy relationships will be used to market the


program and to spread the word for their employees that might seek
certification

Add pamphlet to job fair and other events

IMPLEMENTATION

Criteria for determining whether the goals, objectives, and overall outcomes of
the course or training session will be met.

All assignments will be graded and reviewed during class

Assignment grades will be monitored but class will be pass/fail based on attendance

All students must schedule certification test during class.

Evaluation instruments that must be created

It is expected that the passing percentage will increase

2-3 practice tests similar to real certification test

Based on how the first class goes, the evaluation material will be re-evaluated to
determine if there needs to be less, more, or the same.
