1.Explain the difference between

weather and climate.
2.Explain how latitude , seasonal
differences , aspect and altitude
influence temperature.
3.Describe how prevailing winds,
distance from the sea , ocean currents
and mountain barriers affect rainfall.

Climate Graphs
A climate graph, or
climograph, is a tool used by
geographers to record the
minimum and maximum
temperatures for an area, and
its average rainfall.

Climate Graphs
Display the average temperature
and rainfall experienced at a
particular place though out the
year. They consist of a line graph
showing the average monthly
temperature and a column graph
showing the average monthly
rainfall

Latitude and longitude

can be used to
pinpoint the location of
Sydney Olympic Park
on a world map.

The heading tells us

the name of the place
being graphed.
The
temperature
scale is
located on
the righthand side of
the graph.

The
precipitation
scale is
located on
the left-hand
side of the
graph.
Average
monthly
rainfall is
shown by a
column
graph
which is
usually
coloured
blue.

The months of the year

are written at the
bottom of the graph.

Average
temperature is
shown by a
line graph,
which is
usually
coloured red.
(when plotting
temperature
be sure to
mark the
centre of the
column)
