    Current infrastructure projects in India are facing cash flow problems and require funding that is 3-4 times higher than what has been invested in the past 50 years. To bridge this funding gap, India needs to create more operational projects to recycle money into other infrastructure, develop financing institutions outside the banking system, and grow the bond market in India to attract more overseas lending for infrastructure development. The chairman of IIFCL commented they are currently financing only 2-3% of infrastructure in India and should aim to become a leading advocate in attracting more foreign investment.
